AIPC’s governance and learning model is built on a clear, collaborative structure that brings together Working Groups, the Educational Committee, Task Forces, and an actively engaged Board of Directors. Each of these bodies plays a distinct role, while contributing to a shared objective: strengthening professional knowledge, leadership capacity, and strategic alignment across the global AIPC network.

Together, they form an integrated ecosystem that supports peer learning, drives high-quality educational content, and ensures that AIPC remains responsive to the evolving needs of convention centres worldwide.

Working Groups – Member-Driven Expertise

AIPC Working Groups are a key pillar of the association’s governance and learning structure. They provide focused, member-led platforms for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and peer learning, with each group addressing a specific strategic priority for the industry.

The Cyber Working Group, launched in 2022, emerged from the Cyber Task Force created at the AIPC Annual Conference in response to the growing importance of cyber resilience for convention centres. The group collects data, monitors emerging threats, and publishes a monthly report to keep members informed of key cyber security trends. It also serves as a peer-to-peer forum for sharing strategies and best practices. Members interested in receiving the report or contributing to its content are invited to contact secretariat@aipc.org

Launched in 2024, the Sustainability Working Group brings together sustainability officers from convention centres across the globe. Its mission is to exchange practical solutions and support AIPC’s engagement in the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative. One of its first tangible outcomes has been the collection of sustainability case studies, now regularly featured in the AIPC monthly newsletter and made available via the AIPC Intranet.

Launched in 2025, the Sales & Marketing Working Group is designed to connect emerging sales and marketing professionals within the AIPC community with senior industry leaders. The group meets digitally every six weeks, combining leadership interviews with peer discussion to create a dynamic forum for mentoring, learning, and the exchange of real-world experience.

Also launched in 2025, the Production Working Group will focus on how convention centres are adapting their production capabilities to meet changing client expectations. From hybrid event models to innovative staging and AV solutions, the group will serve as a collaborative space to share expertise and identify emerging best practices.

Together, these Working Groups transform individual expertise into collective knowledge, reinforcing AIPC’s role as a practical, member-powered network.

Educational Committee – Central Learning Authority

The Educational Committee serves as AIPC’s central learning authority, ensuring consistency, relevance, and quality across all educational initiatives. Its role is to define learning priorities, align content with member needs, and provide strategic oversight to ensure that AIPC’s educational offering remains future-focused, practical, and responsive to industry evolution.

Task Forces – Designing Flagship Programmes

Task Forces are established to design, define, and oversee AIPC’s major educational programmes, including the Annual Conference and other flagship initiatives. These focused teams bring together AIPC members to translate strategic priorities into high-impact learning experiences that remain topical and relevant for the global convention centre community.

An Engaged Board with Regional Leadership

The AIPC Board of Directors plays an active role within this structure, extending beyond governance to provide regional leadership and strategic engagement. Board members act as ambassadors and connectors within the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, ensuring that regional perspectives are reflected in AIPC initiatives and strengthening the link between leadership and membership.

A Structure Designed for the Future

This structure bringing together Working Groups, the Educational Committee, Task Forces, and an engaged Board is designed to make AIPC future-ready and member-powered, reducing dependency on a small core team and giving members active influence on all AIPC programmes and priorities.

By combining governance, learning, and peer collaboration into a single, connected ecosystem, AIPC continues to strengthen its role as a global platform for knowledge, leadership, and collective progress.
