Thailand Hosts FNM 2024-Southeast Asia’s First Gastrointestinal Meeting at QSNCC, Advancing the “Medical Hub” National Strategy

Thailand is set to host the Federation of Neurogastroenterology and Motility Meeting 2024 (FNM 2024), a significant international conference that will bring together over 1,000 physicians and academics from around the globe. This event highlights the expertise of Thai medical professionals and supports the government’s strategy to establish Thailand as a leading international health hub from 2025 to 2034. The conference will be held from November 6 to 8, 2024, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC).

The FNM Meeting, organized by the Federation of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (FNM), aims to enhance knowledge and understanding of the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract, focusing on conditions like acid reflux, functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic constipation. It serves as a crucial platform for global knowledge exchange and networking among specialists in functional gastrointestinal disorders. Thailand, a key founding member of the Federation, has been chosen to hostthe meeting twice: initially in 2014 (relocated due to political instability) and now in 2024. This fifth FNM Meeting, the first in Southeast Asia, will showcase recent medical advancements and address the increasing prevalence of neurogastrointestinal disorders.

Prof. Dr. Sutep Gonlachanvit, Chairman of FNM 2024 ,Director of the Center of Excellence in Neurogastroenterology and Motility at Chulalongkorn University,and Director of the Gastrointestinal Motility Center at Bumrungrad International Hospital, expressed his honor in hosting the event. He stated, “It is a great honor for the Thai medical community that the FNM and the Asian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association (ANMA), represented by leading global experts, have entrusted Thailand with hosting FNM 2024. This reaffirms the excellent reputation of Thai medical professionals in neurogastroenterology and motility. Our world-renowned academic and research excellence is crucial to advancing Thailand’s position as a leading medical hub. This aligns with the national strategy to enhance the competitiveness ofour healthcare services and treatment development by promoting knowledge sharingand fostering international collaborations. Hosting FNM 2024 builds confidencein Thailand’s medical sector, elevates the country’s healthcare system, attracts global experts, and creates opportunities for developing new medical knowledge and innovations.”

Prof. Dr. Sutep also noted Thailand’s readiness to host international events, citing excellent facilities, including airports, accommodations, destinations suitable for both academic conferences & leisure tourism and conference venues. The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center offers state-of-the-art facilities, ample space for various conference formats, and convenient access to Bangkok’s attractions.

FNM 2024 will feature several key events:

  • Postgraduate course on diseases and conditions related to neurogastroenterology and motility.
  • Presentations and lectures by leading international experts on topics such as diet, gut microbiota, and disorders of gut-brain interaction.
  • Research presentations by researchers from top global institutions, shared through lectures and exhibitions.
