Operations & Facility Summit 2022

Great insights, great fun

The 2022 AIPC Operations & Facility Summit provided great insights to the participants and allowed for innovative networking.

This year’s edition brought together participants from South-Africa, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and many other countries – making it a truly global event. The same could be said about the speakers, who shared their insights on technology, sustainability, facility design and … supercomputing. We indeed had the pleasure of welcoming the Associate Director of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Pep Martorell, who brought us up to speed – no pun intended – on high performance computing and the impact it will have on our society.

During the day, the participants also saved the world by doing an escape room game, which proved challenging and fun – and all the teams made it in time! A completely new element to the summit, definitely worth repeating.

Some things should however never change and being hosted by CCIB is one of them. The team did an excellent job and making us feel welcome and – as always – made the day a treat from a catering perspective. A second great tradition is the back of house tour of IBTM, with Carlos Moreno Clemente of the FIRA as a guide. Not only made he feel us like VIPs, the stories and insights also allowed for some great learning.
