NZCE – First deadline has arrived

At COP26, the Net Zero Carbon Event (NZCE) initiative was launched, with the ambition to provide an industry wide framework AND plan to become carbon zero as an industry by 2050.   

The initial pledge was first transformed in a roadmap, after which several workstreams delivered best practices and case studies which function as source of inspiration for all parties involved to define a solid roadmap to become net zero. The deadline for delivering this roadmap has now arrived and a communication has been sent to all parties who signed up to the pledge but who have not delivered the roadmap yet. You will find this communication below.  

I think we all agree that this initiative and the successful delivery of the underlying plans is extremely important. It is also the only initiative officially supported and overseen by the United Nations. Therefore, I do urge all signatories to deliver their roadmap AND all convention centers who are not yet part of the initiative to become so. 

Dear XYZ, 

Thank you for being a part of the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative. Your commitment is important as we work collectively towards a sustainable future. Together, we can make a profound change in the events industry.  

Following the “Overall Project update” communicated in July, we are contacting you today in relation to your organisation’s requirements, as a signatory to the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge:  

1- Reporting to the Initiative: Signatories are required to report back to the initiative every two years. As your company has not yet submitted a report to the first reporting cycle launched last year, you need to do it this year, through this link: Net Zero Carbon Events Reporting.

2- Roadmap to Net Zero: Additionally, all signatories are required to publish a roadmap to achieving Net Zero after signing the pledge. Could you send us the link to your company’s published roadmap so we can update our records accordingly.

We kindly ask that you complete your reporting by December 31, 2024, to ensure your company continues to be listed as a Net Zero Carbon Events signatory.
