As policymakers are now faced with the challenge of boosting the global economy post pandemic, the business events sector has an important role to play.

In the months and years ahead, business events will be a key driver of business recovery, both on a local level and across the world. Bringing together communities, markets and industries face to face remains one of the best ways to drive innovation and generate business. IMEX in Frankfurt, taking place 31 May – 2 June, facilitates this by bringing together event planners from around the world to meet with an international roster of suppliers.

13 weeks out from the show (03 March), 1800 international buyers are already committed to attending, including new intermediaries who are bringing buyer groups from across the world including Australia and the US. 10 hotel intermediaries including Melia, Hilton, Marriott, Radisson and Hyatt will also bring international clients.

These buyers will meet with a range of international destinations, venues and suppliers to do business, forge relationships and sign deals. Andrew Swanston, Head of Sales, Conferences & Events at ExCel London, describes his experience at IMEX America 2021: “A client we’d been building a relationship with for over 10 years chose IMEX as the place to confirm a 6,000 delegate event for an international medical association in 2022 as it was the ideal opportunity to meet face to face and sign the deal.”

First-hand feedback proves momentum is growing

The strength of demand to meet again and get back to business is a positive sign for the speed of the sector’s recovery as Carina Bauer, CEO of the IMEX Group, explains: “With the world gradually opening up, we’re seeing great excitement and commitment from our global community to come together at the show. The number of buyers and suppliers already registered to join us is a sign of the growing momentum across the sector and this is reinforced by what we’re hearing first-hand from our partners across Europe when we’ve met face to face, most recently in Italy, Spain and Germany.

“Everyone in our industry understands the importance and impact of meeting face to face with clients and colleagues from across the globe and we’ve purposefully designed this edition of IMEX in Frankfurt to capitalise on those multi-sensory aspects of live events we’ve all been missing.  It’s going to be a huge ‘together again’ moment and I, for one, can’t wait!”

While business meetings and connections remain at the heart of the show, there are also opportunities to update skills with a carefully designed, free learning programme. Over 200 education sessions during the three days of the show will address the most urgent business issues of the day. They include community engagement, sustainable leadership, brand building, regenerative event management and policy engagement – spearheaded by expert speakers who will be announced shortly.

IMEX in Frankfurt takes place 31 May – 2 June 2022. Registration is free.
