Since July 2024, visitors to Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre have been able to listen to the tunes of homegrown artists playing around the venue, with the launch of the I Play SG Music initiative.

The introduction of local music to the Expo & Convention Centre is part of a three-year partnership between Marina Bay Sands and National Arts Council (NAC), inked in September 2023, to bring the arts closer to local and international visitors at the integrated resort.

I Play SG Music is part of Hear65, a national movement to celebrate and promote all forms of Singapore music. A curated playlist of local artists, including JJ Lin, Linying, Nathan Hartono, shazza and The Sam Willows, is now the go-to soundtrack for all events. It is also piped along the venue’s corridors and Origin + Bloom café at Level 4. Over 40 songs are featured on the playlist, which is updated regularly.

Ong Wee Min, Marina Bay Sands’ Vice President of Sales & MICE, said, “The launch of I Play SG Music at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre signals our further commitment to supporting the Singapore arts scene. This will enrich the meetings experience, layering on depth by introducing homegrown artists and music to both local and international visitors, and allowing them to develop a deeper appreciation for the arts.”

Creating art with sustainability in mind

Taking its commitment to showcasing art and culture to the next level, Marina Bay Sands, together with the Singapore Tourism Board and PCMA commissioned an artwork for PCMA Convening Leaders 2025 in Houston earlier this year. Over 600 delegates were invited to paint a mural with Houston-based artist David Maldonado and the completed artwork was then transported to Singapore and displayed at PCMA Asia Pacific The Business of Events in April. The mural absorbs carbon from the air, reflecting the industry’s promise to work towards a net-zero future where business events and sustainability work in harmony.
