MELBOURNE/BRUSSELS (10 September 2025) – The International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) today announced a new partnership with Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) to support the delivery of the AIPC ANZ Academy, alongside the Australian Business Events Association (ABEA).
The AIPC ANZ Academy is a tailor made leadership program designed for convention centre and venue professionals, building future leaders through a five-day intensive program of expert lectures, practical venue-based learning, and networking opportunities. The 2026 edition will be held in Auckland from 16–20 February at the soon to open New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC).
AIPC CEO Sven Bossu said the addition of BEIA as a partner reinforces the Academy’s importance across ANZ:
“BEIA’s involvement is a natural extension of the Academy’s purpose: to strengthen business events leadership through regional collaboration. With both ABEA and BEIA supporting the program, we are demonstrating a united industry committed to professional development and long-term growth.”
Lisa Hopkins, Chief Executive of BEIA, said:
“Opportunities like this are only possible due to New Zealand’s commitment and investment in world-class, purpose-built infrastructure. BEIA is proud to partner with AIPC, alongside our colleagues at ABEA, to deliver this programme, providing pathways and advancement for future leaders in our industry.”
Ross Steele, Chair of AIPC and CEO of Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, highlighted the value of a united industry effort:
“The inaugural Academy proved the demand for relevant, practical and collaborative development opportunities in our region. With BEIA joining the partnership, we can ensure even stronger outcomes for participants and the industry. Together with both ABEA and BEIA, this demonstrates the strength of commitment we share to building the next generation of venue leaders.”
The AIPC ANZ Academy 2026 continues to build on the success of its inaugural year, offering participants actionable strategies to elevate performance, innovate in venue operations, and strengthen their professional networks across the Asia Pacific region.
Program delivery will again be led by Melbourne based Revstar Group, with full program details and registration opening soon at www.aipc.org.
